Let us start by reading 2nd Kings
23:23-25.
In the eighteenth year of the reign of King Josiah, the Passover
was kept to the Lord in Jerusalem.
King Josiah put away all wizards and mediums and all graven
images and idols and all abominations that could be found in the land of Judah,
and refocused all of the inhabitants of Judah on the words of the Law that were
written in the Book found in the House of the Lord. The refocus was so intense
that there was no king of Judah before Josiah or after Josiah who turned to the
Lord with all of his heart and with all of his soul and with all of his might,
according to the Laws of Moses, as intensely as King Josiah did.
Wow, is that not the Great Commandment?
Let us read about the Great Commandment in Matthew 22:36-38.
(Open your Bible and read Matthew 22:36-38.)
Yes, the Great Commandment is part of the Law of God found in
Deuteronomy 6:4-5.
“The Lord our God is one God and you shall love the Lord you God
with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
“With all your heart” means the center of you existence or
all that is you.
“With all your soul “ means the spirit of you that God breathed
into your mortal body to give you life forever more.
“With all your might” means the will you have to live. The
will produced by your human spirit and your human mind.
Your flesh is only the clay vessel that houses all of these
things.
Have you used all your might to refocus your life and the center
of your existence toward the Lord your God with the intensity of King Josiah?
Come on, give it a try.
Prayer:
Oh God, My Heavenly Father,
Have mercy on me a sinner. I have been slack in turning
toward you with all of my heart and soul and mind.
Help me to refocus on loving only you!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
