Worship- Part 4

“I’m coming back to the heart of worship, because it’s all about you, it’s all about you Jesus”, the songwriter writes. Although worship is not about you or intended for you, you can be the beneficiary of such worship. The Bible says in James 4: 8, “Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you”. The Bible says that the Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you.

This type of worship is not mere words. It’s a matter of the heart. Jesus is not pleased with you simply uttering words that are not meant from the heart. As a matter of fact, Jesus calls people like this a Hypocrite. Jesus says in Matt 15:8-9 “These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from me. And in vain, they worship me…” True worship requires you utter the words and is also a condition of the heart. If you meet this criterion, you will become the defacto beneficiary of worship.

Have you ever been in a church service in which true worship was being rendered? Did you notice how the atmosphere changed when the presence of God entered the room. This is when you can become the beneficiary of such worship. True worship invokes the presence of God. The Bible says, where the presence of the Lord is, there is liberty. Souls are bound to be saved, miracles are brought forth, deliverance takes place, broken-hearts are mended, healing takes place when you are in the presence of God. When Jesus is in the room, He is bound to shake up some things.

We have it backwards, we worship God for these benefits vice worshipping God for who He is. We do not get the results that we are expecting because our focus is misdirected. Our focus is typically on the blessing instead of the Blesser.
Now, I ask, are you a hypocrite or are you a true WORSHIPPER? I know it is going to be tough to admit that you are a hypocrite at times, but I know that I have been guilty of this so many times before.

If you find yourself like I have so many times, take a moment and ask God for forgiveness and renew your focus on Him. Don’t worry, do not be ashamed because you will not be alone. It will be at least two of us
